History

From the encounter with kimono to the birth of remake dresses

Childhood Memories: First Time Wearing Kimono

I first wore a kimono that my parents prepared for me during Shichi-Go-San. The unique beauty of the kimono and the joy of wearing it are deeply engraved in my memory.

Coming of Age Ceremony: The Captivating Charm of Furisode

The experience of wearing a furisode at my coming of age ceremony is a lifelong memory. I was fascinated by the beautiful patterns and colors of the kimono, and it sparked my interest in traditional Japanese culture.

Children's Growth and Reunion with Kimono

Through my children's Shichi-Go-San and coming of age ceremony, I encountered kimono again and became aware that the beauty and cultural value of kimono should be passed on to the next generation.

Moving to Miyakojima: Meeting a New Land

Attracted by the beautiful sea and nature of Miyakojima, I moved there. I met many local women here and thought about whether I could create work opportunities for them.

The Concept of Furisode Remake: Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

I came up with the idea of remaking furisode sleeping in closets into modern dresses. By reviving the beautiful patterns and colors of kimono in a new form, we can pass on traditional Japanese culture.

Starting to Learn Sewing: Challenge from Zero

To realize my dream of remake dresses, I started learning sewing from the basics. Despite difficulties, I continued learning with passion.

Completion of First Piece: Moment of Dream Realization

I completed my first furisode remake dress. The moment I saw the beautiful patterns of the kimono reborn as a dress, I felt immense joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Brand Launch

I launched the furisode remake dress brand "toufuga (island elegance, island comfort)". "toufuga" contains the meanings of "island elegance" and "island comfort", and embodies the wish to fuse the beauty of Miyakojima with the beauty of kimono.

Collaboration with Local Women: Co-creating Dreams

I started making dresses together with local women in Miyakojima. By providing remote work opportunities for them, I contribute to the local community.

Toward the Future: Passing on Kimono Culture and Regional Revitalization

Through furisode remake dresses, I continue to pursue dreams of passing on kimono culture, revitalizing Miyakojima region, and supporting single mothers to achieve social contribution.
